An Australian Intro
Saturday September 6th
Sommelier has featured Wines of the Month from every major wine-producing region in the world…except Australia…until now. While there are many great Australian producers and many terrific wines, there was always another wine from another area that stood out when making that monthly decision.
On Saturday we will taste both the Marquis Phillips Holly’s Blend white wine, which is a blend of Chardonnay and Verdejo. This wine is weighty and full, yet finishes crisp and dry. The red is our Wine of the Week (review is below) from De Bortoli Winery in South Eastern Australia. This ripe Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon blend is dark and spicy and full of flavor. Both wines are reasonably priced at $10.99.
Also on Saturday…Sommelier will be introducing a new Chardonnay in the bargain basement price point of the Tisdale ($3.49). The Foxhorn Chardonnay is richer than the Tisdale. We’ll also carry the Foxhorn Cabernet Sauvignon at the same price. We would like to hear your comments on both. We look forward to sharing a new Sauvignon Blanc from Snoqualmie Vineyards in Washington State and an affordable 2003 Bordeaux from Chateau Fontenay in France.
Join us as we introduce the fun new flavors for fall.
The Saturday tasting is from 3pm 6pm.
Beer Tasting is coming soon
Mark you calendars for our Oktoberfest Beer Tasting on Friday night, September 19th. We will sample 30 beers, including 10 “just released” Oktoberfest flavors. We will also have food from three local restaurants and 20 varied beer styles to sip and compare. Food, beer, a German-styled celebration for only ten bucks. Tickets can be purchased in advance and reservations are accepted by calling 262.925.8436.
Wine Classes
Beginning Wednesday October 8th
Classes begin at 6pm
It’s back to school time for the kids and for adults with Sommelier’s Fall Wine Classes. In the past, we’ve focused on one individual region for each class. This upcoming semester, we will take three of the top regions in four of the top wine producing countries in the world. This will allow us to concentrate on the very different styles of winemaking and terroir while studying and tasting wines that aren’t really that far apart geographically. As always, we will discuss each regions culinary style and how that works with their local wines. The classes are $20 per person. A four-class discount is available for those that enroll early. All four classes for only $65.

October 15: Spanish Tres…Penedes, Navarra and Rioja
